Jay Privman has been the national correspondent for Daily Racing Form since 1998, providing award-winning coverage of the sport and its most prestigious events – the Kentucky Derby, the Triple Crown, the Breeders’ Cup, and the Hall of Fame.

A graduate of Chatsworth High School and California State University, Northridge, Privman is currently part of the on-air broadcast team for horse racing on ESPN, ABC and Versus. He can also be heard every Saturday morning as host of “Thoroughbred Los Angeles” on KLAA AM 830 in Southern California.

Privman has covered every Kentucky Derby since 1982, and has covered every Breeders’ Cup since its inception in 1984. He is the author of the book “Breeders’ Cup: Thoroughbred Racing’s Championship Day,” and contributed chapters to the books “Champions” and “Crown Jewels.”

The Carlsbad, CA resident is a six-time winner of the prestigious Red Smith Award, given annually by Churchill Downs to the best stories on that year’s Kentucky Derby. He also has won the David F. Woods Award, given by Pimlico Race Course for the best story on each year’s Preakness Stakes. Three times he has won the Joe Hirsch Award for best newspaper writing at the Breeders’ Cup. He was most recently recognized in early June 2011 with the second annual Joe Hirsch Memorial Writing Award for his coverage of the 142nd running of the Belmont Stakes.
